Let me set the scene .... Hamish has been VERY busy in the sandpit this morning. Mummy is trying to read a very annoying article about "cultural capital and education" for her assignment that is due today .... Hamish is getting deep and meaningful here is an edited part of our conversation that went on for about 15 mins...H: "Mum - what is the difference between a statue and a sculpture?"
uncomfortable silence as cogs turn in my head ... i dunno .....
M: "hmmmmm .... hmmmmmmm....... i guess a statue is usually a person or an animal .... maybe we should look it up on the internet"
H: "what kids of sculptures do people do?"
M: "any kind love, usually people do something they like or they make things that are interesting to them. Sometimes people try to tell a story about something ..."
H: "something that is unusual?"
M: "ummmm yes I guess so"
so now look closely ... there is a sandcastle wall in a circle with a rat in the middle (with two big eyes) .....
H: "mum look at my rat sculpture"
M: "that is lovely Hamish ... what do you call it"
H: " I call it traaaaaaaaped raaaaaaat"
